Electrical and Welding Training Program (Batch 2)

Following the successful first round, BGM Foundation continued its technical skilling efforts by organising a second batch of electrical and welding training for rural youth. The program, again held in partnership with Govardhan Skill Centre in Wada, enrolled 24 participants aged 18 to 28, including both men and women from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.

Over 90 days, trainees received comprehensive instruction in domestic wiring, motor installation, arc and MIG welding, and fault diagnosis. In addition to technical skills, the curriculum included soft skills development, safety training, workplace ethics, and an introduction to small business setup. The program also incorporated industrial exposure through site visits, helping participants understand real-world applications.
By the end of the program, participants demonstrated increased confidence and readiness to pursue employment or self-employment. Some began working with local contractors or established small home-based services. The project reinforced BGM Foundation’s strategy to promote dignified, market-relevant livelihoods among tribal youth.
To sustain impact, the Foundation is developing peer mentor networks, facilitating access to tools, and strengthening job placement pathways in collaboration with MIDC-based industries. Plans are also underway to offer specialised short courses in inverter fitting and solar installations, while tracking alumni outcomes to inform future skilling modules.
