HISTORY & ESTABLISHMENT

Founded in 1887, Bombay Gowrakshak Mandali (BGM) is among India’s earliest institutions dedicated to the care and conservation of indigenous cattle. Built on a deep understanding of India’s agrarian roots, BGM Foundation has worked for generations to protect cows, buffaloes, and oxen, animals central to rural livelihoods and sustainable farming.

Over the decades, BGM Foundation has evolved with changing times while staying true to its core values. By integrating ethical animal care with modern veterinary practices and sustainable methods, the organisation continues to balance tradition with progress.
Our Vision

To create a self-reliant and empowered society through inclusive development initiatives.

Our Mission

To conserve and protect a wide range of cattle population and other horned animals across the state while promoting sustainable practices and building community awareness.

A LIVING LEGACY

As BGM moves forward, its founding principles remain as relevant as ever. What began as a mission to protect cattle has grown into a broader commitment to environmental stewardship, agricultural sustainability, and community well-being

By adapting thoughtfully to modern challenges and embracing innovation with responsibility, BGM continues to carry its legacy forward, rooted in purpose, guided by values, and focused on the future.
