Milk Powder Distribution for Nutritional Support

Recognising the nutritional vulnerability of tribal children in institutional care, BGM Foundation initiated a focused intervention to distribute milk powder to orphanages and rural residential schools across Palghar and Nashik. The program emerged from the understanding that access to fresh milk is often limited in these remote areas, where nutritional deficiencies among children remain a persistent concern.

The project was conceptualised to provide a stable supply of high-quality milk powder, thereby offering essential proteins and calcium to growing children. Beyond physical nourishment, the initiative aimed at boosting cognitive development, classroom attendance, and general well-being. Over 1,500 kilograms of milk powder were distributed over four quarterly cycles, reaching more than 700 children directly.
Implemented by BGM’s outreach team in coordination with ashram administrators and local partners, the initiative delivered tangible outcomes. These included noticeable improvements in children’s energy levels, stronger participation in school activities, and greater community confidence in the Foundation’s outreach model. The initiative laid the foundation for a sustainable and replicable nutrition model suited to the realities of remote tribal belts.
In the next phase, BGM Foundation is exploring strategic tie-ups with nutrition and health organisations to expand the program. Future plans also include integrating regular health monitoring, introducing fortified supplements, and collaborating with public health departments for a more holistic impact.
